Thaddeus Young Hits Two Key Free Throws to Propel the Nets to Their 2nd Win.
The Nets were able to squeak out a win on Tuesday night as Thaddeus Young hit two clutch free throws with under two seconds left in the game. Young put up 16 points and 11 rebounds as Brook Lopez led the way with 24 points and 10 rebounds. The Nets had five players score in double digits as Jarrett Jack (14 points), Shane Larkin (14 points), Joe Johnson (11 points) all chipped in a good team effort that resulted in the Nets second win of the year. The Atlanta Hawks were without their starting backcourt with Teague and Bazemore both sitting.
This season for the Nets doesn’t inspire hope in most fans (for good reason) so all you can ask for is effort, and the Nets have been giving a consistent effort over the past few games. They are beginning to learn each others tendencies as the rotation begins to become more consistent. Lopez continues to show why he is a top five center in the league and had a clutch block on Millsap with under 10 seconds to go.
This game marked the first of a back to back set for the Nets as they take on Charlotte on Wednesday. Charlotte has been lethal shooting the ball behind the arc this year (12th in 3pt %) and they will look to take advantage of that against the Nets, who are allowing teams to shoot 37.5 % from deep (27th). Lopez and Al Jefferson will surely battle down low in the post, which seems to be a lost art now a days.
