AFLW Draft Order: Vic Bias Style
With the poaching of players for new teams, the trade period over and my horribly biased review series on hiatus I present the updated AFLW draft order.
Vic Bias style.
For all those who do not know what I am on about, the AFLW will hold a draft in mid-October in Melbourne for the 10 teams to pick up the next generation of stars. The draft is unique as it is a state-based draft system, which requires clubs to draft players from their state unless a player nominates to play in another state. This is due to the competition not being a full time job and most players don’t make enough to warrant a move interstate. Due to Brisbane, Adelaide, Fremantle and the GWS Giants having no other teams in their state, draft picks are pretty useless to them as they can pick whoever they want at whatever order.
Therefore, I present the Vic Bias draft order as Victorian teams will be picking from the same pool of players.
The order is still subject to changes from the free agency period still in effect that will run until June 7th, but I don’t predict clubs getting much compensation, most will get none.
